What is a doula?
Doulas have been around since almost the beginning on time. She is the one that helps you to understand what is happening. Explain what your feeling. She is the one that rubs your feet. She is the one that tells Dad how great he is doing , so he can remember to tell Mom.
The role of a doula is simple. She is to support you during your labor. Remind you what your birth plan. In the event that your labor changes away form your planned birth, she is to help you understand what is happening.
The benefits of have a doula:
      shorter labor times
       reduction of medications
       more successful breastfeeding
       more positive birth experence
Just to name a few.
 
Avarage length of a first labor 17 hours.
 
 
In a 1998 University of Texas studie shows 81% of labors involved Pitocin.
 
In 2007, 31.8% of woman had a c-section as a means of deleivery.
 
Roughly 76% of woman have an epidural during labor.
 
The VBAC rate in the US is about 18-23% (depending on the study)
 
62.5% of Moms exclusivly breasted their babies at 7 days and 14.2% 6 months.
 
With a doula present about 13 hours (25% shorter labor).
 
I have a 40% Pitocin use, with 2 inductions.
 
I have a 10% c-section rate.
 
 
 
I have a 40% epidural rate (20% for non-induced labors)
 
 
All my planned VBAC were successful.
 
 
All of my mom have breastfeed shortly after birth. They were all still breastfeeding at one week. 75% were still breastfeeding at 6 months.
